Man sets seilf ablaze in Bayelsa
An unidentified man, in the early hours of Sunday, allegedly set himself ablaze in Etegwe, Bayelsa State.
Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred beside the bridge across the canal close to the Edepie roundabout, adding that the deceased was believed to have poured petrol on his body before igniting the fire.
The source said people saw the victim struggling before he fell into the canal.
The death caused a debate, as some of the residents believed he might have been murdered while others said he committed suicide.
The police removed the remains of the victim and deposited it at the FMC mortuary in Yenagoa.
The state police spokesperson, Eguavoen Emokpai said he hadn’t been briefed on the incident.
