Arik Aircraft brushes Air Force plane in Jos airport

An Arik Air Boeing 737-700 with registration number 5NMJI on a route flight to Lagos during the weekend brushed the wing of a parked Nigerian Air force C-130(NAF 917) at the Yakubu Gowon Airpor Heipang, Jos the Plateau state capital.



The incident happened at about 13:45 hours in the afternoon when the Arik aircraft was taxing at the airport tarmac in preparation for take-off.

The tank and wing tip of the NAF C-130 was damaged while the wing of the Arik aircraft was dismembered and hung on the NAF aircraft.

In a statement released by Wing Commander, Adebayo Makun on behalf of the Director of Public Relations and Information of the Nigerian Air force said there was no casualty recorded during the incident, however the two air crafts had to abort their flights.

The NAF C130 was in Jos to airlift students of the Air Force Military School and the Air Force Girls Military School.

The Statement further said that a joint investigation by the Nigerian Air force and the management of Arik Air has commenced.
