Lagos PHCN workers resume work
Workers in Power Holding Corporation of Nigeria (PHCN), Lagos has suspended their three-day strike.
The workers said the move followed the intervention of the National Assembly, to allow for negotiations.
The workers had gone on strike last Friday, to press for the payment of terminal and other benefits ahead of the privatisation of the company.
The Vice Chairman of the National Union of Electricity Employees, Etukubes Mbang, said their offices had subsequently been opened for normal services.
"We resumed this (Monday) morning because the National Assembly has started negotiating with our people in Abuja. We have resumed work, pending the outcome of the meeting," he said.
However, in spite of the suspension of the strike, there was still the presence of military personnel in some PHCN offices in Lagos.
