KSA, others perform at Olympics show

Juju music maestro, King Sunny Ade and other top Nigerian artists heralded Nigeria’s participation in the London Olympics at a sports and cultural expo to mark the beginning of the games.

Other artists include Tuface, Asa, Naeto C, Kaziah Jones, Seun Kuti, Waje and Ms Waliyah Abiola, the late Chief MKO Abiola’s daughter who showed her stuff as an upcoming artist to beat.

The Europe Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria reports that the expo took place on Tuesday night at Nigeria Hospitality House, Stratford, London.

NAN reports that music lovers trooped out to watch the performances which lasted into the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Some of the fans who spoke with NAN commended the initiative and the performances by the artists, which they said, had projected the image of the country in a positive way.

“It is amazing to see the abundance of talents coming from Nigeria; these guys are of international standard,” Richmond Green, a Briton said.

Green, who suggested that more publicity should be done to project the positive aspects of Nigeria, added: “I love Sunny Ade and Asa.’’

Also, a delighted Mr. Gori Alepute, who has lived in the United Kingdom for 30 years, wondered aloud at the abundant talents in Nigeria.

“It is really shocking but also delightful to hear some of these young artists like Asa, Kaziah Jones. They are really very good. I am really very happy and proud tonight,’’ Alepute said.
