Four others were also injured, the school authority also added.
This confirms the report which broke out about the shooting of the students.
It has been learnt, however, that the attack was not carried out on the school campus, as reported.
The Police said the attack took place in "Yar Akwa –Lai Moshalashi" an area with lock up shops in the Naibawa quarters of the city.
According to Mrs Elizabeth Kasu, who is the school’s Vice-Principal in charge of Administration, the students, who were all in their final year, had been "de-boarded” in preparation for their final examinations.
Eyewitnesses said the students were attacked during a street soccer game but a police source said the students were killed while standing in front on a shop.
The bodies of the slain students and the injured have been moved to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano.
The Nigeria police in Abuja had earlier issued a statement denying that any form of attack happened in the school. Also, the National Emergency Management Agency denied the attacks and killings.
