FIDEI Polytechnic Gboko closed down indefinitely

Two students of the FIDEI Polytechnic Gboko in Benue State have been killed by a gang of 10 suspected cultists that entered the institution on reprisal attack.

FIDEI polytechnic is owned by Rev. Fr. Chris Utov of the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi.

Reports say that the suspected cultists, who were also students of the school, were armed with sophisticated weapons and had come to the institution on revenge mission.

However, following the incident, the management of FIDEI Polytechnic Gboko has closed down the institution indefinitely, even as movement is restricted around the school community and students ordered to vacate the campus.

The Registrar of the Polytechnic, Mr. Kelvin Ngugban announced this yesterday in Gboko.

Sources said that the cultists had arrived the premises of the polytechnic, located at Atonko Mega Village, along Gboko-Aliade road at about 7pm on Wednesday, shooting sporadically for some minutes.

The Atonko community where the polytechnic is situated has been under threat due to the re-occurrence of cult activities by some notorious students, in the past few months, with several students axed while some were said to have been robbed.
