Avoid night journeys, FRSC warns motorists

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Katsina State has advised motorists in the state to avoid night journey in order to reduce accidents.

Alhaji Habu Dauda, the Sector Commander of the corps, gave the advice while presenting ‘Road Transport Safety Standardization Scheme’ (RTSSS) certificates to 10 fleet operators in Katsina.

He said the advice has become necessary in view of the increasing night traffic crashes in the state.

The sector commander enjoined motorists to be extra-careful while on the roads and adhere to traffic rules and regulations.

“The FRSC is embarking on massive free check of vehicles and aggressive public enlightenment campaign in the state with effect from Aug. 20.”

He said that motorists with defective vehicles would be given tickets, compelling them to repair their vehicles.

Dauda said the measure was aimed at reducing the rate of accidents by about 50 per cent in the year 2015.
