Fulanis on the Rampage again, Kill Two in Enugu

Two teenagers, a JSS3 student identified as Thadeus Utazi, 17, and one Okeh Michael, 19, who is in SSS2, recently met untimely death when Fulani herdsmen were alleged to have recently unleashed terror at their Nimbo, community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Reports have it that the two had been helping their parents in a farm work when the sad incident occurred.

According to residents of the community, before now, the Fulani were notorious for robbing, harassing and raping women at farmlands and on Nsukka–Adani Expressway after which they retire to the forest posing as cattle-rearers.

They operate, armed with sophisticated weapons, sharpened machetes and arrows.

On the fateful day, Fulani herdsmen carried out an unprovoked attack on the teenagers because they had asked them to stop their cattle from destroying their farmlands.

They residents also alleged that the Fulani men shot and killed the two students.

It was also gathered that after the incident, the community through the town union, petitioned EnuguState Governor, Mr. Sullivan Chime; Chairman Uzo-Uwani Local Government, Mr. Onwubuya Cornel and copied the State Security Services (SSS) over the attack and killings but nothing concrete has come out of it.
