Mob kills 4 robbery suspects in Badagry

Angry at the continued menace of armed robbers, some Badagry residents, on Wednesday, mobbed four suspected armed robbers at Mowo area of the town.

According to eyewitnesses, the bandits, who had robbed Dahush Fuel Station, were attempting to make a getaway when they ran in to an ambush by an angry mob at Mowo.

The mob chased members of the gang into the bush, apprehended them and killed them before the arrival of police officers from Area K Command.

Adeshina Soyemi, an assistant commissioner of police in-charge of Area K Command, Magbon, confirmed the incident, saying: “It is true that a four-member gang robbed Dahush Filling Station at Ipota of some money, after which they were chased and killed by a mob.”

Soyemi said two pistols were recovered from the gang members, and the remains of the dead had been deposited at the morgue of Badagry General Hospital.

It will be recalled that in July, a robbery gang attacked a bullion van at Mowo and killed five people.
