NUC lifts suspension on JABU, 2 other universities

Three of the six universities whose licences were suspended recently were yesterday given a clean bill of health by the National Universities’ Commission (NUC).

The lifting of the suspension order was contained in the NUC Monday Bulletin, which was made available to journalists in Abuja.

The universities are the Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU), Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun; the Achiever’s University, Owo, Osun; and Tansian University, Umunya, Anambra.

The NUC, in the statement, said that the suspension was lifted because of the corrective measures taken by the universities to rectify the infractions which led to the suspension of their operational licences.

NUC added that it would soon send a team to conduct fresh forensic audit on the six private universities whose licences were earlier suspended.

The NUC listed the six universities as Madonna University, Okija; Achiever’s University, Owo; Tansian University, Umunya; Caritas University, Amorji-Nike, Enugu; Lead City University, Ibadan; and Jospeph Ayo Babalola University, (JABU), Ikeji- Arakeji, Osun.

The auditing will cover all aspects of the universities’ operations, and the NUC will continue to monitor the universities' implementation of agreed actions.
